BEST FOR

Fine lines and wrinkles, skin texture and quality, thinning hair
  • How PRP Injections Work

We draw a small sample of your blood and separate the platelet-rich plasma from it. That plasma is then injected into the areas being treated, where it works alongside your body's own repair process. Nothing from a donor is involved.

  • Where PRP Injections Are Used

At Catara, PRP is used on the face for skin quality and fine lines, and on the scalp to support the follicle environment in thinning hair. We also apply PRP to the surface of the skin during the same visit.

  • What Your Appointment Looks Like

Your provider applies a medical-grade numbing cream, draws a small amount of blood, separates the plasma, and injects it into the mapped areas. Most visits take under an hour.

  • When Changes Appear

Many clients notice changes in the first few weeks, and skin and hair continue to develop over the following months. Our providers generally plan a series of 3 treatments over about 3 months. Results may vary.

  • How PRP Compares and Combines

PRP is often paired with microneedling or followed by a facial rather than used on its own, and the material comes from you rather than from a prescription product. Your provider will explain which approach fits your goals.

    About This Treatment

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma, a concentrate we prepare from your own blood in the office. Every treatment starts with a consultation, so we recommend it only when it makes sense for your skin or hair goals.

Who PRP Injections in Algonquin, IL is For

Good Candidates? Is This Right for You?

    Concerns PRP Injections Address

PRP is used for skin quality and texture, for the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and for thinning hair. It works with the tissue you already have; it is not a volume filler and it is not a substitute for medical care.

    Who Is a Good Candidate?

Adults who want to work on the appearance of aging skin or on thinning hair are the usual starting point. Candidacy is decided at your consultation, not from a web page: your provider reviews your health history, your goals, and your expectations, and will tell you honestly if PRP is not the right fit. Results may vary.

Who Should Not Have PRP Injections

Catara does not perform PRP injections for clients who have HIV or AIDS, hepatitis C, or a blood cancer. That list is not exhaustive. Tell your provider about your full medical history and every medication and supplement you take, so your provider can confirm whether PRP injections are appropriate for you.

    Safety and Good Practice

PRP is prepared from your own blood, which means no donor material is used. That is not the same as saying a procedure carries no risk. Treatment is performed by licensed providers working under medical direction, and your provider reviews the risks and the alternatives with you before anything is injected.

    What To Expect

    Pre & Post Treatment Care

Come to your appointment without makeup.

    Post-Care Instructions

Do not touch your face for at least 6 hours after treatment.
When you are ready to wash your face, wash your hands with soap first. Use lukewarm water only, no cleanser, then pat dry gently. Wash this way for 3 days.
Sleep on your back for 2 nights.
Do not use exfoliating products for at least 3 days.
Most clients return to normal activity the following day.

    • How PRP Injections Work

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. We draw a small sample of your blood in the office, then spin it to separate the plasma and concentrate the platelets it carries. Because the material comes from you, no donor product is introduced.

Platelets carry the growth factors your body already uses when it repairs tissue. Once the plasma is placed back into the treated area, it is working alongside your own repair process rather than replacing it. You may hear PRP called liquid gold, which is a nickname for its color and how it looks in the syringe, not a promise about your outcome.

    • Where PRP Injections Are Used

PRP is used two main ways at Catara Med Spa:

      • Face and skin: injected into the areas you want to address, and also applied to the surface of the skin during the same visit.
      • Scalp: placed at the level of the hair follicles to support the follicle environment and local blood supply.

Your provider maps which areas to treat during your consultation. PRP is also the plasma step in our PRP microneedling service for hair, so the same material can be delivered two different ways depending on what you are working on.

    • What to Expect at Your Appointment

You meet with a provider first. We talk through what is bothering you, what you want to change, and whether PRP injections are the right tool. If something else fits better, we will tell you and explain why. There is no upselling and no pressure.

For the treatment itself, your provider applies a medical-grade numbing cream to keep you comfortable, draws a small amount of blood, and separates the plasma from it. The plasma is then injected into the mapped areas, and we also apply PRP to the surface of the skin. Most treatments take under an hour, and treatment is performed by licensed providers working under medical direction.

    • When Changes Appear and How We Plan the Series

Many clients notice changes in skin texture, or in the scalp, within the first few weeks, and improvement continues to develop over the following months as the tissue responds. Results may vary from person to person.

PRP is not a single-visit treatment. Our providers generally plan a series of 3 treatments over about 3 months, and your own plan is set at your consultation based on your goals, your starting point, and how you respond along the way. How long an effect holds is an individual question, so your provider reviews maintenance with you rather than quoting a fixed interval.

    • How PRP Fits with Our Other Treatments

PRP is rarely the whole plan. It is commonly paired with microneedling, and many clients follow a PRP visit with a facial to support hydration and recovery.

If your main concern is thinning hair, our PRP microneedling service delivers the same plasma through the scalp rather than by injection alone. If your main concern is the movement lines that form when you frown or squint, wrinkle relaxers work on a different mechanism entirely. Your provider will explain the difference and recommend only what makes sense for you.
