Each brand and type of filler carries a different active ingredient, which is why one product is not used for everything. The choice of filler, the amount, and the depth of placement are decisions your provider makes with you, based on the area being treated and on what you want to change. Filler is also not permanent: the material breaks down over time, so a filler plan is something you maintain rather than something you do once. Results may vary from person to person.

Filler is placed in specific areas rather than applied across the whole face. At Catara Med Spa the areas we treat with filler are:

• Cheeks and midface: for volume and contour through the middle of the face.
• Chin: for projection and balance in the lower face.
• Jawline: for definition and contour along the jaw.
• Under eyes: the tear trough area, where hollowing tends to show.
• Smile and laugh lines: the lower face folds that run from the nose toward the corners of the mouth.
• Lips: for shape, definition, and volume. This is booked as lip enhancement.
• Temples: the sides of the upper face, where hollowing can show as volume is lost. This is booked as Temple Filler.
• Hands: the backs of the hands, where volume loss tends to show.

Each of these is booked as its own appointment. Your provider maps which areas to treat, and in what order, during your consultation. Some goals are better served by a different tool entirely, and if that is the case we will say so.

Consultations are where we get to know you. We listen to your concerns, assess the current condition of your skin, and work with you to determine an injection plan that fits your lifestyle and your budget. You have our full attention, there is no upselling and no pressure, and if a treatment is not right for you we will tell you and explain why.

For the treatment itself, your injector places the chosen filler into the areas of concern, walking you through each step so you know what is happening and what comes next. Afterward we assess the treated area to confirm the placement of the filler, answer your questions, and give you instructions on maintaining your results. You are welcome to schedule any follow up appointments you need before you leave. Procedure time varies with the plan, and treatment is performed by licensed providers working under medical direction.

Filler is not permanent, and how long it holds depends on the product used and on the area treated. The working figure at Catara is 6 to 18 months. That is a range, not a promise: the product, the placement, and the amount used all move it, so your provider reviews maintenance with you rather than quoting one interval for everyone. Results may vary from person to person.

The first few days are part of the picture too. Redness, swelling, and sensitivity in the treated area are normal after an injection, and mild swelling or bruising can last a few days before it settles. Your provider tells you what is normal for the areas you had treated and what is worth a phone call.

Filler is rarely the whole plan. Wrinkle relaxers work on a different problem: the movement lines that form when you frown, squint, or raise your brows. Filler addresses volume and the folds that volume loss creates. Many clients use both, and filler is also combined with skin treatments as part of a fuller plan.

Radiesse is one of the filler products offered at Catara and has its own page.
